Ouch. After the reality check -- more like body slam -- of reading two historical nonfiction works back to back, I'm ready for the science fiction and fantasy of Connie Willis and Karen Lord.

Stranger than fiction? Annie Jacobsen's Area 51: An Uncensored History is a meticulously documented and fascinating history of Area 51 and U.S. black ops -- despite the questionable claims about the Russians and Roswell.

There are many revelations in Area 51: an Uncensored History about U.S. nuclear testing and overhead surveillance technology, among others. So it's a shame that everyone gets caught up in the rather dubious Roswell claim the book makes.

A seemingly well-documented and researched book, much of the truth and veracity of Annie Jacobsen's book Area 51: An Uncensored History may be overshadowed by the admittedly difficult to believe "revelation" that comes at the end.
